?? Educational ??

So we went to Disneyland last month. It was totally fun!! Now some might say that it isn't really a school day activity. So I debated over wether to count it or not. So here goes my theory and you can tell me what you think. We got a scavenger hunt off the web that had factual info found in Disneyland. Like when it was founded. Who were the architects etc. They all have a plaque or a movie or place in the park you could learn it. So the kids had to search for them.Plus Bri and her Dad rode with the train engineer and learned all about how trains worked. We also studied simple machines and pulleys used in roller coasters before the trip and learned about California. Well with all of that I decided to count 3 of our 5 vacation days. The 2 days we drove because I brought stuff in the car and 1 of our days in disneyland. So do you think I cheat? All homeschooling aside we had tons of fun. It was not busy at all. The lines were so short. Except PETER PAN WHATS UP WITH THAT. My favorite ride and it always has a long line. Our last day there it rained so there was NO lines any where. We walked on to everything.

There was a new ride in California Adventure and they just reopened Small world after some renovations. The kids loved it. We didn't tell them where we were going till we drove through the gate and they were so excited.

This is a little alley by the exit to Pirates and we always get a picture here.

The kids got trained to be Jedi and fought Darth Vader and Darth Mal.

This is for Hollie!

Brook was terrified of the characters. She would grind her teeth every time they came near.

The characters go in the theatre on main street if it rains and we just happened to go there when it started to rain hard and caught tons of them in there.

This is for MOM!

Spelling

I know its been a while but we have been sooo busy. Anyway I just wanted to share this site I found for my struggling spellers. It is free and better than quizzing them daily. I even have them type in their words to add a typing skill. All you do is type in the words and click play games and it gives you games to play on the sight using the words. The sight is spellingcity.com

Cookies

Well we had so much fun yesterday. We spent the day baking cookies and delivering them to neighbors. We learned to read the recipe, and follow directions, counting, measuring, and cooperation all at the same time. Even Brook got to help. It was a lot of fun spending time on a project with my kids. We made pumpkin, chocolate chip, eggnog, gingerbread, and chocolate orange cookies.

The challenge is to do a Christmas baking project with your kids letting them help the whole time. I know it isn't way educational but it's a lot of fun. Write and tell us what you made.
